Anylist For Mac
One of the biggest features that AnyList Complete gets you is the ability to manage your lists from a browser. AnyList is available on iPhone and iPad, through any desktop browser, and they also have a Mac app that you can download from their site. Personally, I use the iPhone app mostly because I like to walk around while building a list so I can visually check on what we have in our pantry and fridge. What makes Anylist wonderful is the ability to recipe search, download the recipe, and then click a button to have the ingredients for that recipe added to your grocery list automatically. You can also meal plan with Anylist. Guest. Jan 2018. 7 agrees and 4 disagrees Disagree Agree; Freemium Web Android iPhone Android Tablet Windows Phone. AnyList

AnyList is an iPhone app that lets you make as many grocery or shopping lists as you want or need. And it’s free. It contains an auto-complete dictionary so when you start typing Broc…, it fills in Broccoli. This makes creating a shopping list very fast without a lot of typing.
Each item can be categorized so that all Bakery items are together, all Produce items are together, all Frozen Food items are together, etc. The app alphabetizes your lists within the categories (or not, or manually, your choice). Tapping an item draws a red line through it, crossing it off your list. Tap again and the line disappears.
There is a two-position switch at the top of each list—”Remaining” and “All.” As you add items to a list at home, you set the switch to All. When you go shopping, you switch the list from All to Remaining and the only items visible are the ones you need to shop for. As you go through the store, you tap the items as you put them in your cart and they disappear from the list. I’d prefer to use check boxes instead of the red strikeout lines, but that’s a minor complaint and the developer is considering an alternative.
I previously used the Zenbe Lists app that is no longer supported. After using AnyList for a few weeks, I find this app to be better. I have a Supermarket list, a Trader Joe’s list, a Costco list, and others. I’m a list guy and couldn’t live without this app. You don’t need to use this just for groceries, AnyList means it’s for ANY list. I have an Ikea list, for instance.
You can share your lists with others. Your partner can add items while you are on your way to the market. Built into the app are a selection of recipes. Click on one and the app will fill in your shopping list with the required ingredients. I’m not sure how practical this feature is.
The app has some useful features. One of the handiest: You can set AnyList so that your phone stays on while AnyList is open. That way, your iPhone doesn’t keep cycling off while you’re shopping. Crazy-good app.

MyMac Review rating is 9 out of 10.
We’re pleased to announce that AnyList is now available for the Apple Watch.
With AnyList for Apple Watch, you can quickly view your lists right on your wrist.
And now you can do your shopping at the store without ever taking your phone out of your pocket or purse.
Just tap an item on your watch to cross it off. Crossed off items will remain visible until you drop your wrist. When you raise your wrist again, the crossed off items will be hidden so you can focus on the items remaining in your list.
And of course, changes you make on your watch are automatically synced to your phone and other devices (and vice versa).
If you want quick access to your lists, you can add the AnyList complication to your watch face so that your lists are always just a tap away.
AnyList for Apple Watch requires an AnyList Complete subscription.
Technical Details
AnyList for Apple Watch runs natively on the watch and has its own independent copy of your lists. This means, you can view your lists and cross off items on your watch, even when your phone isn’t nearby.
If you’re using the app when your watch and phone are connected, changes made on one device will automatically sync in the background to the other device. On the other hand, if your watch and phone are out of range, changes will sync the next time they are connected.

AnyList for Apple Watch requires watchOS 3 as Apple made a number of changes in watchOS 3 that greatly improve the experience of using third party apps.
One major improvement is that recently used apps are kept in memory and launch almost instantly. The best way to ensure an app will launch quickly is to keep it in the Dock or add its complication to the watch face.
Another important change in watchOS 3 is that by default the last used app stays open for about 8 minutes after lowering your wrist. In previous versions of watchOS, by default the watch would immediately return to the watch face when lowering your wrist, which would have meant needing to constantly re-launch AnyList while shopping at the store.
watchOS 3 also improved support for background tasks. This means as you make changes to lists on one device, those changes can sync over to your other device in the background so your lists will already be up to date the next time you launch the app on that device.
